Welcome to Beauty Of The Beast The Dark Isles.
Rules are posted so everyone has an equal time of enjoyment. Remember, not knowing the rules is no excuse for breaking them.

1. ALL PLAYERS AND CHARACTERS must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Anyone found to be breaking this rule will be instantly banned from this server upon discovery by any member of the DM staff. This is not debatable. For dragons, a minimum of 60 years of age. All others, use the default bioware settings or higher please.

2. All other rules are built around these three overriding rules:

1. Play how you like as long as you don’t impair the roleplay experience of others.
2. Be authentic to your character and the setting.
3. Always respect your fellow players, DMs and developers
4. Farming prohibited, one or two runs per zone... as most are quite large... then move on, there is alot to explore. And always be polite don't run another player out of an area, ask permission, they were there first.
5. Though duel logging is permitted, keep in mind if we are busy, please only one account at a time, and you are not permitted to use more then one account to power level yourself.
6. FIVE Level min per class will be inplimented. You have 60 levels to build too. Must be taken by 40th level

So what does this mean in a practical sense? It does not mean that the DM hand of god will be waiting in the wings to smite down people who at times choose soloing and fighting over interacting with others. It would simply waste too much of our DMs' time and likely make playing here too much like living in a police state. We trust our players' own judgment. There are many ways and aspects of role-playing and we will not claim to always know better.

However, with regards to rule two and since this is a role-play server, always make sure that you do not compromise the stories, setting and IC experience of others - Don't mention or use OOC terms and mechanism, such as game mechanisms, in IC action. Never intentionally spoil the atmosphere that your fellow players may be experiencing, but instead, always strive to enhance it. If you at times grow tired of interacting with others, it's much preferred and strongly advised that you go to secluded areas and avoid contact, rather than stop acting IC.

If you're in doubt about rule two, let it rely on rule one and three. We won’t stop you from playing an evil character, but alignment is no excuse for violating rule number one and three. Give each other due respect OOC even if your characters do not IC. Your character's personality is no excuse for solely being an annoyance to others. It's your responsibility that those you interact with have a rewarding experience when coming to roleplay here.

The dark Isles, existing in a demiplane has some effects on deities and their connection with followers. The lands have their own gods and if a worshiper or follower of one of these all is well. If however say a cleric from another world who worships say for example "Torm" finds themself to be claimed by the land they will find that the connection to the power that "Torm" grants them to be cut as deities from other worlds have no reach to this one. In the interest of being authentic to the world we ask that any playing such a character to RP out the loss of that connection and seek out new patronage.

3. While the DM staff believes in open mindedness some behaviors are strictly forbidden here they include but are not limited to: Pedophilia, Flaming, Harassment, Slander, Stalking, and generally creating a Hostile environment for other players to enjoy their RP. These are Instant ban offenses. Zero Tolerance.

4. Forms of role play not forbidden, but not permitted in public: bestiality, blood play, toilet play, other extreme forms of RP(**these forms of role play require OOC consent, take screen shots!) Failure to keep these forms of play private WILL result in a Major Violation punishment. Failure to have OOC consent will lead to perma bans.

4a. Rape play / severe torture.... Given the setting of the world such RP may be played out as Rp dictates. O.O.C. consent must be given and at anytime may be revoked with a tell during such a scene by any involved. Once again take screen shots of the permissions! Further keep in mind that a character / characters engaging in such ruthless RP are subject to the I.C consequences of these actions including PVP retribution from the victim, or any associated with the victim, or even a do good passerby who comes upon such a scene if done in public. Do not engage in such Rp if not willing to accept involvement in PVP!

5. Area-specific rules must be obeyed and will be strictly enforced. I.E. see pvp rules.

6. OOC Drama is NOT tolerated. Both parties will be in violation for not being capable of civilized behavior.

OOC RP Rules that apply everywhere!

1. If an role play is already in progress when you enter an area do not directly interfere or attempt to cause the other players to stop and or relocate their RP. First come First Serve.

2. At any time during a Role Play any member of said scene has the right to OOC refuse to continue. All others involved in the Role Play are obligated to cease all activity at that time.

**PVP RULES**
Player vs. Player -Current PvP rules.

These rules can change or be altered at anytime so please come back and read them often. Killing another player is ok, but to prevent random PK's and griefing there has to be some restrictions.

1.When a player chooses another player to kill some kind of warning needs to be given to the victim to allow them a chance to either run away or log out...etc, if they do not want to be killed. By warning we do not mean that you have to tell them 2 seconds before doing so and blow any chance of stealth you may have but you must hostile them in your player list before attacking. A few examples of possible warnings are as follows..

a. In tell - "Hey buddy better run because I'm going to hunt you down and kill you!"
b. Over shout - "Player A stole from me! As a result they will pay with their life!"
c. If they are nearby in regular chat - "Prepare to die!"

During heat of the moment PvP battles warning is still required. See example "C" above.

2.PvP must be justified in some way. Just walking up to a random player and saying "I'm gonna kill you" is not justified. Saying "I'm gonna kill you because you were stealing my loot!" is justified as is "Because you are in my way!" however, basically for this one use common sense or ask a DM before attacking..

3.After slaying a player your slate is clean, unless they choose to seek revenge. Repeatedly killing the same player is considered harassment and will not be tolerated.

If you are the victim of a player killing you are allowed to make an attempt to exact revenge on the player. To make this attempt you must simply follow the PvP rules and warn the person you are going to attempt revenge. Once either you have tried 3 times or your attempt is successful your slate is clean, and you are finished with the revenge. Constant attempts at killing a player even though you do not stand a chance can also become harassment as it prevents the other player from enjoying their play time.

4.The player who makes the kill is allowed to raise the dead player either ic or ooc but is not required to do so. IC actions have IC consequences. (remember we are ADULTS!)
Turning a player to Stone is considered a PK, in this case though the player is obligated to either finish the kill or unstone the player at the end of the RP.

5.There will be absolutely NO transition ambushing allowed!

6.For other PvP situations ask a DM for approval.
If a DM feels a player or players is abusing these rules and ruining the enjoyment of the game for others they have the right to supercede these rules for the individuals in question. In other words; the DMs have the final say in PvP matters.

***PICK POCKET ***
(non guild members / freelancers)

1. Pick pocketing will be allowed for RP and must be Rp'ed out.

2.The Pick pocketing player must have ooc consent and all items must be returned at the end of the RP (take screen shots)

3.Remember that engaging in such RP means possible IC consequences for the pick pocketing character including PVP. Do not engage in such activities if you can't or won't accept the the consequences.

4.Anyone caught without ooc consent will be dealt with harshly

***PICK POCKET ***
(guild members)

The Dark isles is home to some seedy organizations and because of this there will be times when RP determines that members of such organization will be ordered by a ranking leader to "sqeeze" someone. Tactics for doing so could include pickpocketing. This type of situation must come about purely by Rp and must be approved by at least 2 DM's prior to actions of this sort being taken on a deserving mark. The potential mark does not need give consent in this sort of situation if approved and items taken do not have to be returned.
If not approved by staff then the non member/ freelancer rules apply.

An example of this would be: Player A whose character Bob goes out and rips off the mob of the land and then brags about it publicly would be a good candidate for this type of "sqeeze".
Player B whose character is the mob leader tells 2 or 3 underlings
"go pay Bob a visit and give him a chance to make good on his debt, with interest of course." The 3 underlings go and have a chat with Bob and Bob decides to kill them. At this time Bob becomes the mark, not just hunted by the organization but also subject upon approval of dm's to being pick pocketed without need to consent as stealing from and then killing members of the mob is implied consent even if player A did not know they were ripping off the mob to begin with. player A will have known that they did so when deciding to have bob kill the representatives sent to recover the goods.

***EXPLOITS***

1. Using known exploits will result in punishment to be determined by the DM or staff. If you find a exploit please PM a DM either in game or in the forums. Please do not post it publicly in the forums or in game.

The bottom line is to have fun. Unless players start getting out of line our rules will be minimal.

***PERMA DEATH***

While we are not a perma death server under normal circumstances there are some activities the if a character engages in and persues can lead to permadeath. These include but are not limited to: Being a member of an assassins guild and betraying that guild, the guild will put you at the bottom of the bay. At such times as a character starts down such a path toward perma death they will be made aware that such consequences could arise from their actions both ic and ooc so that they have the oppurtunity to change course on that path if they dont want to participate in such.

**** SPAWN / KILL / LOOT ****

We must insist on this rule, as it keeps lag down and prevents lowbies from getting fragged. Thus, it is expected to be followed as a courtesy to all.
Habitual offenders of this rule will find a small heavy object in their inventory that is undroppable.

As we are an Rp module with adult content, and not the other way around, we ask that players please not to add things to their Bio's, such as their red and green lights , sexual preferences, these things can be done via RP, as well as through tells, again remember if a player says no, or they are not interested , please respect that.

If you're in need of having your bio fixed, for this reason, please contact myself or Dark here via PM or In game, we will be more then happy to fix this, as well as adding in any Bio'S you wish to have placed in, for your convenience.

Rules are set in place to make things fair for all players, so that they can enjoy themselves, cosmetic things like tails and the such are that cosmetic , humans are humans as dragons are dragons and goblins or orc as the list goes down. As DM's we work and strive to make the place enjoyable and a reasonable setting to serve a large variety of people with a few simple rules to follow until someone does something that tends to push, that more rules need to be set to correct this or that when common sense and some good will and understanding can go so much further. As a DM we go out of our way to serve you the player, with the best that we can possibly give, request that go with the server, and perhaps what alterations that may need to be made over a period of time , as for both player and DM its a learning experience, as we all get to know each other and work together in a fantasy environment with a little realism (RP) in the back ground for a time and setting. For more things to be added and acceptions to be made it requires both the DM's and player to show respect for the rule set forth. I am a firm believer that to play any mod is not a god given right but a privilege and if one find the place enjoyable they will adjust to the way each and every mod is set up and run, as every person who creates one has their own idea of how they see it as player will enter and bring their own stories with them as well as blend in with the past story of how the mod came to be. For changes to occur it requires the aid of both, but rules are rules and still must be followed fairly by one and all. arguing over where one is an admin or not , Or a DM is really irrelevant , as a DM staff is taken in to help make fair judgments on all aspect of the game as we all have, player included * our own little thing that makes us all special and able to add something More to the existing story in place. Please respect those around you , read ther rules and regulations, help us and respect what we are trying to do and that respect is given back ten fold, as it is the players that make the world in the end.
